The Fingerprints of God: Creation, Christ, and the Case for Faith
Romans 1:20
Paul makes a bold claim: “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”
Creation itself is Exhibit A. Men don’t lack evidence — some men suppress it.
1. Something cannot, never will come from nothing.
Every effect has a cause. The universe had a beginning — even secular cosmology agrees on this (the Big Bang marks a starting point for space, time, and matter). Something outside of space, time, and matter had to cause it.

Creation itself is Exhibit A. Men don’t lack evidence — some men suppress it.
1. Something cannot, never will come from nothing.
Every effect has a cause. The universe had a beginning — even secular cosmology agrees on this (the Big Bang marks a starting point for space, time, and matter). Something outside of space, time, and matter had to cause it.
Genesis 1:1 said it first: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Hebrews 11:3 puts the philosophy in one line: “the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”
2. The universe is calibrated with incredible and impossible precision.
The force of gravity, the strength of the nuclear forces, the rate of cosmic expansion — dozens of independent constants are tuned to such narrow margins that a fraction of a percent’s difference in any one of them would make life impossible anywhere. That’s not random luck stacked on random luck. That’s design. Psalm 19:1 — “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”

3. Information doesn’t write itself.
DNA is a coded language — instructions, syntax, and information density that puts human software to shame. Every code we know of in human experience comes from a mind. A four-letter chemical alphabet that builds every living thing on earth points to an Author, not an accident. Psalm 139:14 — “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
4. The moral law inside every man.
Every human being, in every culture, has an innate sense that some things are actually wrong — not just unpopular, but wrong. Atheism can describe behavior; it struggles to explain where a real, binding moral law comes from if there’s no Lawgiver. Romans 2:15 says the law is “written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness.” C.S. Lewis built his whole case for God in Mere Christianity on this exact starting point — men everywhere assume a real right and wrong exists.

5. Jesus Christ — history, not just faith.
This is where it moves from evidence of a Creator to evidence of a Savior:
He existed. Even hostile, non-Christian first-century historians — Tacitus, Josephus — recorded Jesus as a real man who was crucified under Pontius Pilate. This isn’t seriously disputed by credible historians.
He was crucified and buried. Multiple independent sources agree on this — a criminal’s death by Roman execution, confirmed by both Roman and Jewish sources outside the Gospels.
The tomb was empty. Even His enemies didn’t produce a body to shut the movement down — the easiest possible way to kill Christianity in its first weeks, and no one could do it.
People testified they saw Him alive. 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 lists over 500 eyewitnesses to the resurrected Christ, most of whom Paul says were “still alive” at the time he wrote it — an open invitation to go ask them yourself.
Changed lives are the evidence you can’t fake. These same disciples who scattered and hid in fear at the crucifixion (Matthew 26:56) were transformed into men who were tortured and executed for refusing to deny what they’d seen. People will die for what they believe is true. They don’t die for what they know is a lie.

The heavens are already preaching. The DNA in your own body is already preaching. An empty tomb two thousand years ago is already preaching. The question was never “is there enough evidence.” The question is whether a man is willing to follow where the evidence points — all the way to a cross, and an empty grave, and a God who’s been reaching for him the whole time.
